Too often, pocket references contain the needed information, but it takes too long to find it in several pages of verbiage. Students and interns are trying to juggle several patients at once, and may have only a few moments to review information before being quizzed by faculty. Certainly, the etiology, signs/symptoms, diagnosis criteria and treatment are of primary importance. Having the epidemiology and clinical course data handy will also be quite useful......Strengths include the easy and quick to read templated format, the inclusion of the most important (i.e., most frequently asked about) facts, and the inclusion of all the commonly seen disease entities. A book such as this is needed and sought after by students and residents. Second year medical student, George Washington University I think the format is a nice review page for quick retrieval. The book also seems comprehensive and ideal for interns starting in the hospital.
